How to split a bill on Zeller POS?

You can conveniently process payments for a single sale in multiple parts, allowing a group to pay using several cards or a combination of card and cash.

Before proceeding, ensure you have linked a Zeller Terminal to your Zeller POS for card payments. For guidance on linking your Zeller Terminal, view here. If you wish to accept cash payments, you will need to enable cash sales. You can find instructions here.

Split a bill by amount

To get started, add the items to a sale on your Zeller POS tablet:

1. Tap Split.
2. Tap Amount.
3. Enter the amount this customer is paying, or tap Pay Remaining Amount to pay everything that is left.
4. Tap Confirm.
5. Tap Card or Cash, then tap Confirm.
6. Take the payment. For card, the customer taps, inserts or swipes their card on your Zeller Terminal. For cash, tap Exact Cash, or enter the cash you are handed and tap Complete.
7. Tap Next Payment, then repeat steps 2 to 6 for the next amount.
8. After the last payment, tap Done.

You are unable to enter an amount that exceeds the remaining balance. As part of the sale has already been paid, the cart will display the amount received thus far as Already Paid, while the remaining balance will be indicated under Charge.

Please note: when your receipts and kitchen dockets are set to print automatically, they will do so only after the entire sale has been settled, coinciding with the order appearing on your Kitchen Display. If you wish to print a receipt following any payment, simply tap Print.

Please note: cash payments are rounded to the nearest 5 cents, similar to any cash transaction. If the amount does not end with either 0 or 5 cents, the cash screen will display the rounded amount to be collected.

Should a customer choose to pay in cash and wish to leave their change as a tip, simply tap on Record Change as Tip following the payment, and then select Confirm.

Leave a part-paid sale and come back to it

If the rest of the bill will be paid later, you can set the sale aside and keep serving:

1. Tap the sale name at the top of the cart.
2. Tap New Sale.

The part-paid sale is kept under Open Sales. To come back to it, tap the sale name at the top of the cart, then tap the sale under Open Sales. It opens with the amount Already Paid, ready to take the rest.

Find a part-paid sale in Sales History

A sale with part of the bill paid shows as Partially Paid in Sales History. Tap it to see each payment under Transactions.

Please note: once a payment has been taken, Discard Sale no longer appears for that sale, and you cannot apply a discount that would take the total below the amount already paid.
