Tap to Pay is a secure contactless payment method. Tap to Pay payments are taken when your customer taps their card or digital wallet on your phone’s NFC (Near field communication) reader, when prompted by an application to process a payment. During this process, a unique, single-use-use code, known as a token, is created for each transaction, so that your customer’s card information is not stored or copied locally. 

With Zeller Tap to Pay, every payment adheres to the strictest industry standards of security, including Level 1 PCI DSS compliance.

Zeller Tap to Pay is compatible with any NFC-enabled Android smartphone, or iPhone model XS or later operating with iOS 16.4. To accept payments using Tap to Pay, your phone will also require the Zeller App, and an approved Zeller Account.

To set up Tap to Pay on your phone, download the free Zeller App and log in to your Zeller Account. Then, select Tap to Pay from the navigation menu on the Zeller App.

1. Tap Set Up Now

2. Assign a unique name for your device and tap Next

3. Choose a site for your device and tap Next. Or, you can create a new site if required. 

4. Confirm if GST should be applied to transactions, and then tap Next

5. Confirm if you want to enable surcharges to apply to your Tap to Pay transactions, then tap Next 

6. You can choose to enable tipping, then tap Next 

7. Review and configure your digital receipts, then tap Finish Setup

You can accept a wide range of contactless payments with Tap to Pay. This includes taking payments from physical contactless credit and debit cards issued by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, and UnionPay. You can also accept contactless payments from digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay using your smartphone or NFC-enabled device (such as an Apple Watch).

Tap to Pay Technology Built for Both iPhones & Android Devices

For merchants using Tap to Pay on Android, the feature is currently supported on Android 10 phones or later versions with inbuilt NFC technology. Tap to Pay on iPhone is available to all users with an iPhone XS or later, using iOS 16.4 or later. To get started, simply download the Zeller App on your smartphone, and follow the steps to configure your device. Once configured, you can start accepting EFTPOS payments immediately. Tap to Pay with Zeller App incurs one low flat transaction fee of 1.4% for all cards, (including American Express) or you can choose to pass on the fee to your customer through surcharging.
