Frequently Asked Questions

To start taking payments with Tap to Pay on Android, download the free Zeller App to your Android smartphone, and check your device settings to confirm that your near-field-communication (NFC) is turned on. If it's turned off, switch it on. Then navigate to the Zeller App. In the menu, select "Tap to Pay" and follow the settings to enable this feature if it's not already enabled. Once it's enabled, you're ready to accept contactless card and mobile wallet payment with Tap to Pay on Android.

Most Android devices that run on Android 10 or a later operating system, and that have NFC capabilities, will be compatible with Tap to Pay on Android.

Tap to Pay on Android accepts payments from most contactless cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and many other digital wallets. The majority of credit and debit cards issued in Australia are enabled with a NFC chip to process contactless payments. If you're unsure if your customer's card is NFC-enabled, check the card for the contactless icon.

If a customer uses a credit or debit card that prompts them to enter a PIN number while completing a transaction, your customer will be able to enter their PIN securely on your Android smartphone.

When you take a payment using Tap to Pay on Android, the processing fee is 1.4% per tap. There are no other hidden fees or charges. You can also switch on surcharging, to recover the full or partial transaction fee from your customer when they process their payment, by absorbing the fee into their payment amount.

For Zeller payments, security is built into every product we deploy. We meet every industry requirement to monitor your account for suspicious activity, and support your PCI compliance.

Tap to Pay on Android works just like any other contactless payment method — tap and go, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and many more. When your customer is processing a payment, ask them to tap their contactless card or mobile wallet on the back of your phone. A beep will indicate that the payment has been successful, and then you can ask them if they'd like an email or SMS receipt.

Yes. In the event your traditional point-of-sale (POS) goes down or stops working, you can use Tap to Pay on Android to enable your staff to accept payments in addition to any other EFTPOS Terminal you have already. Additionally, you can use Tap to Pay on Android when it gets busy and you need an additional roaming checkout.
