MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA —Australia’s highest valued pre-launch startup, Zeller, has experienced unprecedented growth since launching this May and shows no signs of slowing. Since launch Zeller has signed up over 10,000 businesses, establishing it’s position as one of Australia's fastest growing fintechs. Businesses using Zeller include Little Athletics Victoria, Monster Threads, and Racing South Australia, alongside independent businesses such as Bar Positano in Surry Hills, Sydney, and Seville Estate Winery in Victoria’s Yarra Valley.

Despite the uncertainty caused by lengthy business trading restrictions across Australia, Zeller’s growth has boomed in parallel with business resurgence seen in past months. Combined with their rapid customer base growth, payments processed by businesses using Zeller Terminal are growing on average 103% monthly.

“Protracted lockdowns have provided a unique opportunity for business owners to review their banking requirements and upgrade their EFTPOS solutions. By switching from incumbent banks to Zeller, they’ve been able to get paid faster, lower their cost of card acceptance, and upgrade to a more reliable solution” said Ben Pfisterer, Zeller CEO and co-founder. “The products that Zeller has launched this year play an important role in helping these businesses get back on their feet, as well as boosting growth in new business openings. We’re excited to support customers through the post-lockdown rebound, and are humbled by the amazing growth Zeller has seen in our first 8 months.”

In the days following the easing of the New South Wales lockdown and the announcement that Victoria would soon follow, Zeller’s sign-up volume immediately grew 30% week-on-week, while Zeller Terminal sales increased by 48% week-on-week, as businesses geared up to accept card payments driven by the accelerated decline of cash as a result of COVID-19.

In order for the business to meet the growing demand for its products and services, Zeller has expanded its team to 122 people globally, growing at a rate of 40% quarterly. Zeller is accelerating team expansion through the establishment of regional hubs and recruiting talent remotely across the world. “There’s been a lot of commentary on the hiring challenges Australian tech companies have faced in the past 2 years. Despite these challenges, we have been privileged to have rapidly grown our team to over 120 people, and to meet amazing talent whose aspirations align with the opportunities that working in a high-growth scale-up like Zeller offers” said Pfisterer.

Zeller also announced the launch of the Zeller Partner Program, which will deliver an ecosystem of integrations and partnerships with Zeller which enable merchants to accept payments in more places, and help improve operational efficiency. Technology platforms are invited to partner with Zeller to build direct integrations with Zeller Terminal. The Zeller Partner Program launches with the release of over 300 point-of-sale system integrations with Zeller Terminal (including Vend, Ordermate, Next Order, Revel and Abacus).

Pfisterer commented “We understand the diversity of needs that Australian businesses have — and that they utilise a variety of partners and solutions to run their operations. We are excited to welcome new partnerships with a range of global technology solutions, and to bring their solutions together with Zeller products. With new integrations across payroll, invoicing and e-commerce coming in the near future, Zeller will continue to add value and drive efficiency for our merchants.”
