Australian fintech Zeller supports live entertainment recovery with launch of event rental program

1 December 2021

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA —Australia’s highest valued pre-launch scaleup, Zeller, today launched a new event rental program, enabling event producers to rent Zeller’s next-gen EFTPOS solution to accept on-site event payments at food and beverage, merchandise, and ticketing sites. The program has been delivered to extend support to Australia's live entertainment industry ahead of the upcoming summer season. Zeller, which launched its reimagined business banking solution in May, offers a fully integrated EFTPOS solution, fee-free transaction account and business Debit Card in one kit.

The Zeller Event Rental Program enables event producers to rent a Zeller event payments kit — combining a Zeller EFTPOS Terminal, SIM Card and Charging Dock — at a low daily rate with no lock-in contract. Funds are settled direct to the event’s nominated account as fast as the same day, helping to accelerate cash flow in an industry getting back on its feet after almost 2 years of tough restrictions and event shutdowns.

The program has been well received by the events industry; in the past 60 days Zeller has secured partnerships with Victoria’s renowned Loch Hart Music Festival, 524 Flinders event space in Melbourne CBD, and the new Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts (PICA). Jayden Bath, Festival Director of Loch Hart Music Festival, is rolling out Zeller Terminal to accept on-site payments at January’s festival. “Seamless payments and fast settlements are critical for any festival. We’re an industry known for having slow-moving queues, and the best modern-day festivals are those who value the customer experience and help to avoid these situations — at the gates, toilets or getting a drink, and most importantly when you’re selling at bars, food vendors and merch tents. When selecting a payments provider for our festival, we wanted a partner who would support us with the best technology, fast settlement and with a team who appreciate how events operate. Zeller is the perfect fit.”

Zeller has been making fast headway into Australia’s live entertainment and events industry for several months, recruiting ex-Eventbrite APAC General Manager Josh McNicol as Director of Growth, and bringing Eventbrite Music specialists Tyson Woodland and William Watson onto the Zeller Sales team. Zeller has already signed up over 140 Australian event producers to its new payments solution, which is also available in Officeworks stores nationally.Zeller Director of Growth Josh McNicol commented, “Australia’s live entertainment industry has been one of the hardest hit during the past 2 years of COVID. While Zeller’s organic growth within the events industry has been amazing, we’re passionate about delivering a dedicated offering which supports the unique operational requirements of live events and venues, and ensures they can accelerate their cash flow during the busy summer season.”
