Using your Zeller Card for auto top-ups and recurring payments
You can use your Zeller Debit Card or Virtual Card to pay for recurring services and automatic top-ups with third-party providers.
For example, you can add your Zeller card as a payment method with an energy provider who provides a top-up service. Once set up, the provider can automatically charge your Zeller card when your account needs a top-up, helping you keep your services running without needing to make manual payments.
How auto top-up payments work
When you set up an auto top-up or recurring payment:
-
You add your Zeller Debit or Virtual Card details with the service provider.
-
The provider securely stores your card details.
-
When a payment is due or your balance needs topping up, the provider sends a payment request to Zeller.
-
The payment is processed using funds available in your Zeller Business Account.
Why you may be asked to verify a payment
Some online card payments require an additional security check called 3D Secure (3DS).
3DS is part of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), a security requirement designed to help protect you from unauthorised card payments.
If a payment requires 3DS verification, you may be asked to confirm your identity before the payment can be completed.
Setting up your 3DS Security Questions
To complete required 3DS verification, you need to have your 3DS Security Questions set up.
If your Security Questions have not been configured, some online payments, including certain auto top-up or recurring payment transactions, may not complete successfully.
You can set up your 3DS Security Questions from your Zeller account settings.
You can configure this in the Zeller App or the Zeller Dashboard. Go to Cards > Security and set it up there.
If your auto top-up payment fails
If an automatic payment does not go through:
-
Check that your Zeller card details saved with the provider are correct.
-
Confirm that your Zeller account has enough available funds.
-
Make sure your Zeller card is active and has not expired.
-
Check that your 3DS Security Questions have been set up.
-
Try the payment again after completing any required verification.
If you continue to experience issues, contact Zeller Support and provide details of the failed payment, including the merchant or service provider you were trying to pay.
