Zeller Enters the Cloud Point-of-Sale Software Market with AI-First System Built for SMEs
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - 24 June 2026 - Australian fintech Zeller has today released a new point-of-sale (POS) app aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, expanding its offering beyond fintech into core business operations software.
Zeller POS is an all-in-one cloud-based application that runs on iOS and Android devices (including tablets and smartphones), and integrates with hardware such as receipt printers and cash drawers. The system includes menu and item management, complex order management and routing, customisable menu displays, and real-time sales reporting giving merchants immediate visibility into item and sales performance. For payment acceptance, Zeller Terminal natively integrates with Zeller POS for fast and reliable checkout. All data synchronises automatically across the Zeller ecosystem, providing a single, consolidated view of business sales and performance from the merchant’s Dashboard.
Zeller says the product is designed to reduce switching friction for businesses moving from incumbent POS providers, with an automatic item import tool which reduces setup from days to minutes.
“Merchants have struggled for too long with the expensive pricing, outdated software, restrictive contracts, and limited support offered by foreign providers such as Square, Shopify and Lightspeed who have neglected the Australian point-of-sale market. We knew that it was time to bring local POS innovation into the Zeller ecosystem, to complement our growing list of POS partners and provide more choice for Aussie businesses” said Ben Pfisterer, co-founder and CEO of Zeller.
“Merchants using Zeller benefit from a consolidated view of their payments, accounts and spending. Real-time data about what their business is selling from Zeller POS, and how they can use this 360-degree view of their performance, will enable them to optimise their finances and grow their business faster.”
AI-assisted product development and features
Zeller is usilising artificial intelligence across its product development process, spanning design, coding, testing, and deployment, to significantly accelerate their ability to deploy new features within Zeller POS on a weekly basis. By leveraging AI, Zeller is able to build and deploy new functionality faster, without sacrificing on quality or security.
It has also introduced a new AI assistant, Zeller AI Assist, embedded within the Zeller Dashboard and designed to help merchants better understand which features are available to them, and in future to analyse sales performance and unlock financial insights. Because Zeller unifies payments, financial management, and point-of-sale in a single ecosystem, Zeller AI Assist will be able to draw on consolidated business data rather than fragmented sources, eliminating the need for merchants to compile reports manually from disconnected platforms.
Targeting POS market economics
Zeller is positioning the product as an alternative to global POS providers, which often charge a combination of monthly software fees, expensive upfront hardware costs, and layered transaction fees.
The company estimates that the average Australian hospitality and retail business spends up to $17,000 annually on POS and payment-related software, hardware, and infrastructure. Zeller POS eliminates software subscription fees and operates on a pay-as-you-go transaction model, charging a flat-rate fee on card and mobile wallet payments when the POS is integrated with Zeller Terminal.
Zeller says the product is aimed at businesses looking to reduce fixed software costs and consolidate payments and operations into a single system. Zeller POS has been tested extensively over the past two months with local customers, Alvin Teh, owner of Cofezo in Balaclava, Melbourne.
“Operating alongside a very busy train station in the inner-suburbs of Melbourne, speed is critical” commented Alvin. “Since upgrading to Zeller POS, we’ve been able to serve customers, process orders and accept payment faster than ever before. This reduces the pressure on my team, ensuring they can focus on delivering a great coffee and service.”
Zeller POS is also complemented by the growing number of direct POS integrations to Zeller Terminal, including leading providers such as Triniteq, Impos, Redcat, Costar, Zii, The Edge POS, and Oracle Simphony.
Availability
Zeller POS is available to the fintech’s 110,000+ Australian customers today, as well as to new merchants signing up via the Zeller website here.
