When it comes to invoicing, both Zeller and Square let you create, send and automate invoices, but Zeller is the more affordable option. Zeller Invoices charges 1.5% on invoices paid by domestic Visa and Mastercard, compared to Square's 2.5%. There's no monthly subscription either: every feature, including customisation, scheduling and tracking, is included free. Square, by contrast, charges £20/month to unlock those same customisation features.

Similarly, for card-not-present payments, Zeller's Virtual Terminal matches Square feature for feature, but at a lower cost: 1.5% per transaction versus Square's 2.5%.

Square, by contrast, limits standard support to 9am–5pm on weekdays, with 24/7 access reserved for Premium plans or specific Register and Terminal queries. Additionally, Zeller settles your funds overnight, every day of the week including weekends, while Square takes 1–2 working days to settle by default, and charges a 1.5% fee if you want your money any faster.
